No Place for Hate Meeting
All 8th graders are welcome to attend the No Place for Hate meeting this Monday, November 7th in the library classroom at 8:00am. Please join us Monday morning as we plan the Resolution of Respect signing and club t shirts.

Picture Retakes
Thursday, November 10th
If your student was absent on the first picture day, have them stop by the office and pick up an order form. If you want a new picture of your student, please return your picture package.

Tickets on Sale NOW!
The after school production of The Odyssey performs Wednesday, November 16 at 7:00pm in LTMS Auditorium. Based on Homer's famous tale, the play showcases many Greek mythological characters: Poseidon, Hermes, Circe, Zeus, Cyclops and more! Tickets are $5.00 in advance and $8.00 at the door. Tickets may be purchased at the front office.

Career Day Speakers Wanted!
Here at Lake Travis we are part of a diverse community as far as professions are concerned. There is a wide variety of occupations represented by our parents. Each year we tap into that resource by inviting parents and others in our community to speak at our Career Day. If you have an interesting job and would like to share about it with our students we would love to have you present at the LTMS Career Day on Friday afternoon, November 18. Please mark your calendar for the 18th of November and contact Anne Brown, counselor at LTMS for further details.

Science Department
Attention HUNTERS: Hunting Season is here! 7th grade Science will be studying the circulatory system and we would like to have your deer hearts. Please bag and freeze your deer hearts for our upcoming dissection and deliver all hearts to Mrs. Young or Mr. Armstrong. You don't have to be in 7th grade to do your part. We appreciate help from any grade level parent. We will be accepting any donations until January or the end of hunting season. Please do your part for science!

A fun and unique volunteer opportunity!
We need volunteers this coming Friday, November 11th, to help blow up 900 balloons for a Veterans Day balloon release by the students! We will start at 8:30 a.m. If you have a few minutes or a couple of hours, we would love your help in making this Veterans Day a wonderful day. Just check in at the office and they will direct you to the fun.

Have you ever wondered how your pre-teen or teenager develops 'parental ear muffs'? Or been curious about how to approach certain 'touchy' topics in a way that doesn't make your kiddo turn and run? Come hear our Healthy Lifestyles Coordinator, Kathleen Hassenfratz, discuss ways to better understand your child's motivation during the teenage years and how to keep that line of communication open wide!
There will also be a vote on changes to the
LTMS PTO Bylaws.

Proposed Amendments to the LTMS PTO Bylaws.
As announced at our 9/20 PTO Meeting, our organization's bylaws have been reviewed and the proposed amendments may be viewed HERE. Below is a summary of the changes that will be up for vote at the November 15 general meeting:
- Correct enumeration errors (Article VII sections 2 - 7)
- Correct reference errors (Article VII section 4.c; Article VIII section 4.d; Article IX sections 4.h & 4.i)
- Clarify that Nominating and Audit committees are approved by majority of general membership (Article X sections 3.a & 3.b)
- Add that an incoming treasurer cannot serve on the audit committee (Article X section 3.b)
- Change number of check signers from 4 to 3 and add that one board member shall review and sign monthly bank statements (Article XI section 3)
- Add section stating that all disbursements shall be made by check (Article XI section 4)

LTMS PTO Staff Appreciation Committee (SAC)
presents
The Annual Pie Store Event on Thursday, November 17, 2011 benefitting our awesome teachers and staff at LTMS!!
Please bake (or buy) your favorite holiday pie and bring it to school so that our teachers at LTMS can choose a special treat to bring home to their families for the Thanksgiving break. Feel free to put a label on it with your family name and type of pie so your lucky pie shopper will know who made their yummy treat!! Please drop off your pie on Thursday, November 17th to the front office in the morning. If your pie needs to be refrigerated please label it and we will make sure to store it in the school refrigerator. The teachers and staff love and appreciate the events that SAC puts on and we cannot do it without your help.
